Why not join a Homegroup?
“Have you ever considered joining a Home Group? For years I did not join one, thinking perhaps that it would be too serious or ‘deep’ and being loath to go out in the evening
However I plucked up courage a couple of years ago and have never regretted it. People I had just known as nodding acquaintances have become friends. The bible studies are not stuffy at all and the discussions with all the varying opinions are most interesting and helpful. I have certainly improved my knowledge of the bible as I am sure it is more beneficial to study passages with others rather than trying to do it by oneself. Usually there are helpful notes and questions for us to consider and sometimes a video to watch. I have also found the prayer time uplifting and feel it is an important part of our time together
Last but not least, it is lovely being welcomed into other people’s homes, sharing coffee and biscuits and a good old chat about joys and sorrows and feeling that you have a supportive group around you. At the end of term there could be a barbecue or festive meal
For all these reasons I thoroughly recommend joining a group” – Jackie Farley
Emmanuel has 12 home groups meeting in various parts of the parish, and on different days of the week. The groups provide Christian fellowship, Bible study and prayer and many people find they are an ideal way to grow in the Christian faith in a friendly and supportive environment. All the groups – except those which are bursting at the seams – will welcome you, wherever you are on your spiritual journey
