“God has done so much for me during my life, how could I not worship Him?”
Sheila, Church Member

This week we focus on Phil and Anna Evans who are living in Macedonia and working in partnership with 24-7.
Monday: Give thanks for Phil and Anna’s first year with the Glasnost Community in Skopje, Macedonia: for progress in learning the language, building friendships, for provision of a visa and for the many activities they have been able to get involved in. Give thanks that Phil and Anna are able to use their home in Skopje for fellowship and prayer. Pray that this may continue next year and for their home to continue to be welcoming.
Tuesday: ‘All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth’ Colossians 1v6
The Kairos Course is currently being translated for Macedonians. Give thanks that enough money has been given to finance the translation. Pray that the course educates and inspires a global mission mindset in the Macedonian Church.
Wednesday: Pray for Phil’s work to encourage people to generate income through business. Pray for God to provide ideas and finance to allow people to start small businesses in Macedonia.
Thursday: Pray for Anna’s involvement in the pre-school in Shutka – for wisdom and direction so that she can provide the support and motivation needed at the right time and in the right ways.
Friday: ‘And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.’ Philippians 1v9-10
Pray this for Phil, Anna, yourself and other Christians.
Saturday: Pray for Phil and Anna as they come to the end of their holiday – that they may have had real rest and refreshment and good times with friends and family.
Sunday: Pray for the coming year – that Phil and Anna’s partnership in the gospel with the Glasnost Community may continue, bearing fruit and pointing people to Christ.
Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to move forward whilst looking backwards? You bump into things and don’t follow the direction you expected. Rather like the paths of our lives when we don’t accept the complete forgiveness of our sins by our Heavenly Father. Seek encouragement this week to let go and move on.
Monday: Deuteronomy 1:6 ‘The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain.”
Standing still may be safe and comfortable but it gets us nowhere. With God’s help and strength we can step out in faith, moving forward in our relationship with the Lord.
Tuesday: Psalm 23:1, 3 ‘The Lord is my shepherd,….He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.’
Pray for Frank today as he begins his trip to Malawi. Pray for God’s blessing upon this visit. Ask for safety in travel, good health, protection, and purpose. Pray for Pippa and the family in Frank’s absence.
Wednesday Genesis 19:17, 26 “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back..” ‘But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.’
Pray for courage to keep a straight path and not slip into old ways and habits. Don’t tie yourself to your past, but to your potential.
Thursday: Numbers 11:4-6 ‘…The Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost…But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”
Today’s problems may cause us to hanker after the ‘good old days’. However, we mustn’t forget the promise of God’s future blessing, or we will suffer from a lack of perspective.
Friday: Philippians 3:13-14 ‘…But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead, I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.’
Henry Ford famously quoted “Whether you think you can, or you can’t, you’re right’. Let Paul’s ‘can do’ attitude in moving forward inspire you.
Saturday: Corinthians 5:17 ‘Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!’
We can learn and grow through past experiences, good and bad. The challenge is to not dwell on past events, but to accept God’s forgiveness and to keep looking ahead. As Will Rogers succinctly put it, “Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today.”
Sunday: John 8: 36 ‘So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’
Lord, we thank you for our freedom from sin, guilt and regrets through the cleansing and redeeming love of your precious Son Jesus.
