Rev Frank Scammell

Vicar

Born and brought up in Surrey, Frank married Pippa in 1981. They now have three children, Ruth, Michael and Robert all in their 20s. Frank became a Christian at Cambridge before training at St John’s, Nottingham. Ordained in 1982, Frank has served in churches in Burton on Trent, Swanage and Bury St Edmunds and now in Guildford since 2003. Frank and Pippa enjoy walking, gardening and most sports. Pippa is heavily involved in Emmanuel’s Fair Trade and Coffee Shops

Rev Patrick Butler

Curate

Patrick was brought up in London and Sussex and became a Christian as a teenager whilst working with special needs children in Austria. He spent several years in youth work in East London before qualifying as a youth worker. He studied theology at All Nations Christian College and has recently returned to the UK after fifteen years in Paraguay, South America, where he worked in youth ministry and church leadership with the Anglican Church. He is married to Rosie, has three children and likes running, cycling and watching political thrillers

Rev Rupert Masters

Curate

Rupert was born and brought up in Surrey and has lived in the Guildford area for over thirty years. He cannot pinpoint an exact time when he became a Christian but it was at Hull University that Christ became particularly real to him. He has been worshipping at Emmanuel Church for about 35 years. Over that time he has been a teacher in the children’s and young people’s groups, a home group leader and a church warden, as well as serving many years on the PCC.

He was recently ordained at Guildford Cathedral, having studied for three years on the Local Ministry Programme which is run by the Guildford Diocese.
Rupert continues to work full-time for the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance.
He is married to Jane and they have three grown up children: Andrew, Helen and David. Jane is one of the music leaders at Emmanuel. Rupert particularly enjoys gardening, drumming, walking and fossil hunting

Rev Chris Reddin

Non-stipendiary Minister

Chris grew up in Essex and became a Christian as a teenager. She studied Sociology at Essex University married Terry in 1968 and was a teacher, first in London and then in Surrey. Chris and Terry moved from Fulham to Guildford in 1974 and attended Emmanuel until 2000, helping with the youth work, being on the PCC and involved in many areas of church life. Between 2000 and 2010 they worshiped at Burpham Church while Chris, now retired from teaching, trained for the Church of England Ministry. She was ordained in 2004 and served as a curate at Burpham until 2011. Now back at Emmanuel, Chris serves as an active retired minister. Chris and Terry have two daughters, Tonya and Natasha, and four grandchildren. Chris enjoys being an active grandma, doing crosswords, cooking and entertaining, reading and watching films

Ray Driscoll

Youth Worker

Ray was brought up in Surrey and has been working with young people since he was 17 years old. After two Christian bands and a lot of volunteering, Ray took on his first full time youth work position at Frimley Baptist Church in 2001 while studying for his MA in Youth Ministry and Theological Education at Kings College. Ray went on to work for another Baptist Church in Horsham and a Christian charity called ‘Splash’ before joining Emmanuel in September 2010. Ray is husband to Nicky and dad to Charlie and he enjoys running and most other sports, gadgets and going camping with his family.
