About Emmanuel

Emmanuel is a well established evangelical church with around 300 attending Sunday morning services. The church has been central to the Parish of Stoughton in north Guildford for over a hundred years. Nineteen years ago the buildings were modernised to create an attractive, welcoming place for worship and a Parish Centre with cafe, sports hall and rooms for church and community use was completed in 2004 . On any day of the week the place is buzzing with the facilities used to the full, living out Emmanuel’s vision to be ‘a church without walls to the community.’

The vicar, Frank Scammell, has been with Emmanuel for seven years and leads a team of five staff. The worship life of the church embraces a broad variety of services and includes family worship, contemporary evening services and a thriving midweek after school service. It runs a pre- school, a friendship club for the elderly, a football team (which plays in the Surrey league) and has close links with the Uniformed Organizations. Along with Alpha courses and homegroups Emmanuel seeks to bring good news and be good news to Stoughton.
